Beth Kuklinski, Chair of the Board of Directors

Autism has personally impacted Beth’s life due to the diagnosis of her only son. Beth holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from North Carolina State University. She has advanced graduate coursework on Specialized Education. Beth is completing a Master’s in English with a focus on Multi Cultural and Transnational Literature from Eastern Carolina University. Beth’s compilation of research, consultations with specialists in educational and therapeutic fields, and life experience and vision is the foundation of this pilot program. Beth was the host of Breathing Underwater: Stories of Autism a radio show airing on WCOM and nationally syndicated on AutismRadio. She provides consultation to other agencies and schools, and the JLSA program and philosophy inspire many schools who attempt to incorporate these original concepts.

Alyce Kuklinski, NP, RN, Senior Medical Director, Vice-Chair of the Board and Secretary

A board-certified nurse practitioner with clinical experience in adult primary care and OB-GYN, Alyce has worked in a variety of health care settings, including clinical research, public health, practice administration and program/product development and management. Alyce is a graduate of Duke University and holds a master’s in nursing from the MGH Institute of Health Professions.

Adam Kuklinski, Treasurer

Adam graduated from UNC Greensboro and holds a Master’s in Forensic Science from George Washington University. He has a long career in the federal government. Adam lives in Washington D.C. and is currently employed as a Federal Agent.

 

ADVISORY VOLUNTEERS

Donna M Patrick, CMP, CMM, Director of Events 

In July 2012, Donna was named Associate Director of Global Meetings & Conventions for UnitedHealth Group where she has taken over leadership of the organization’s Strategic Meeting Management Program (SMMP).

Prior to this role, Donna spent over eleven years at Medtronic, Inc.; leading the meetings department for the CardioVascular business unit before relocating to Minneapolis in May 2007 to develop and launch the company’s SMMP.   Donna has over 20 years industry experience in meeting and event management, received industry designations in 1999 (CMP) and 2001 (CMM) and was named one of the Top 20 Changemakers by Corporate Meetings & Incentives Magazine for her work on Medtronic’s SMMP.

J Daniel Patrick, Consult of Educational Planning

Dan Patrick is a professional chef by trade, graduated with honors from Johnson & Whales University out of Providence, Rhode Island.  Dan has held various chef positions over the last 20 years, including owning his own breakfast and lunch café in Santa Rosa, California. Most recently, Dan graduated with a Masters in Special Education from St. Mary’s University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Donna and Dan have 3 boys – Noah (12), Nicholas (9) and Nathan (6), Nathan was born with Down syndrome; igniting Dan’s passion to help children with special needs.

Dr. Claude Halford House, Sustainability and Environmental Projects 

Dr. House holds a PH.D from North Carolina State University in Forestry/Water Quality as well as has more than 30 years of water quality and waste management experience, including 20 years in numerous roles of applied science research with agricultural, industrial, municipal, residential wastewater and water quality issues.He developed original research, published and has presented frequently within local, national and international forums with a water quality focus. Hal has contributed directly to the development of state and local policy through the Division of Environmental Health Subsurface Disposal Rules, original Division of Water Quality Reclaimed Water Rules, Chatham County Ordinances and through membership of the Chatham County Environmental Review Board and founded the company Integrated Water Strategies in 2000 based on a holistic approach to water reclamation and reuse utilizing regenerative and decentralized design strategies.He currently serves on graduate committees and lectures as Adjunct Professor at Environmental Sciences and Engineering, UNC Chapel Hill.

Dawn Martin, Volunteer Coordinator  

Dawn and her husband Mark are Colortyme franchisees with stores in Goldsboro and Raleigh. In 2001 they moved from Connecticut to Florida to open our first store and relocated to NC in 2006. She holds a BA in Psychology from Central Connecticut State University. Dawn and her husband have been married for 18 years and have 2 terrific kids. Mandi is 12 and a student at JLSA and Drew is 14. She organizes and runs the monthly parents’ coffee, serves on the parent committee and assists on all off-campus activities at JLSA. In her free time she enjoys volunteering, reading and traveling with her family. They are avid sports fans especially of their beloved New England Patriots.

Nancy Maynard, Sponsorship Director

Nancy Maynard graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in Microbiology. She has over 19 years of experience as a microbiologist. She has worked for various companies such as American Sterilizer, Magellan Laboratories/Cardinal Health and Apex Laboratories. As a microbiologist she carried out testing of pharmaceutical products and ingredients to ensure safety and quality. She also designed experiments to analyze novel products. Nancy is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and has lived in North Carolina for 19 years. She has lived in Holly Springs for 13 years with her husband and two children. She loves traveling around the country, going to the beach, reading, scrap booking, learning Mandarin Chinese and cycling.
